It is quite annoying and complicated when you are reading your mail and have to see what the content of a link is in another window of browser. So you can’t mass on your mail content and you have to launch the default browser – it takes time and computer resource. There’s an easy way to kick this annoy out: Just using ThunderBird and install the add-on ThunderBrowse.

Thunderbrowse - Browse The Web Right In Your Thunderbird

First time to hear ThunderBird? Yes, it’s all right. Most of us are so similar to Outlook Express or MS Outlook, which is developed by Microsoft and default built in Windows. Take a chance to use ThunderBird, you will be convinced at the first glance. ThunderBird is completely free, small, really fast and quite secure email client developed by Mozilla who writes the famous browser Firefox. ThunderBird can be powered up by adding plenty of add-ons. My two favorite add-ons are: lighting – which helps you organize your work, to-do list, canledar… and ThunderBrowse. In this post, I concern more on ThunderBrowse add-on.

ThunderBrowse is an add-on which helps you to browse the web right in your ThunderBird. It is now updated to version 3.0.1 recently. After installing, it will add a browse bar in the top of each message window so that you can read your mail content and also browse right in the same message window.

There are two options for browsing a link: 1) Browse the link right in Thunderbird or 2) browse it by launching the default browser on your computer. You can toggle this function by clicking on the ThunderBrowse icon at the bottom right corner of each message window.

ThunderBrowse acts like a real browser such as IE or Firefox:
  • Searching: You can search Google by typing google + keyword to search in the address bar. It will bring the result up in the message window.
  • Tab browsing: Like most browsers now, ThunderBrowse also supports tab browsing. You can open multiple tabs in the same message window.
  • URL suggestion: ThunderBrowse remember all the url you have surfed before and when you type some words in the address bar, it will suggest a list of address for you. That’s pretty useful and save time for you.
There are many features left to explore after you install this add-on on your ThunderBird.

However, there is something ThunderBrowse can not act as well as a real browser. It’s not a good idea to compare it with Firefox or IE. For instance, you can not absolutely stumble with ThunderBrowse.

Anyway, it is really convenient add-on which you should install if you are using ThunderBird. It is quite helpful to read quickly some content of a link in your mail. I usually use it to find more information about a new Twitter has just follow me or to see the shout come from my friend on Digg.

You can download and install ThunderBrowse or read more information about this add-on on ThunderBrowse website.
